The Management Team

Melva Stone was the first permanent female resident of the iron-ore mining town of Newman, a radio operator for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) in Port Hedland, the first female manager of the Mayne Nickless Group in Western Australia and the first female president of the RFDS (Western Australian section). She also established and became President of the Australian British Chamber of Commerce in Western Australia. Melva has run her own public relations and marketing business for many years now, and is currently developing another - 'Global Sheila' - for the adventurous female traveller.

Erica Smyth is a company director. She has both a Bachelor of Science degree (in geology) from the University of Western Australia and an Applied Master's of Science degree from McGill University in Canada. Currently, she is Chairman of ScreenWest, the Western Australian State Government's screen industry body; the Diabetes Research Foundation and UWA's Centenary Trust for Women. Erica is also a director of several other organisations, among them Toro Energy Ltd, the Centre for Sustainable Resource Processing, the Swan Care Group, Scitech and Leadership Western Australia.

Robyn Sermon is the Manager of the Rio Tinto WA Future Fund. Robyn has fourteen years experience in Government, Media and Community Relations, and prior to her current role she managed Community Relations for Comalco in Gladstone (Queensland). Originally from WA, Robyn has previously worked for WMC and Rio Tinto including time with Argyle Diamonds and Hamersley Iron. Having trained as a journalist, she has also worked for a non-profit organisation, the media and as a Ministerial Media Advisor in the Federal Government.

Sandra Jamieson hails from Albany on the South Coast of Western Australia and worked in marketing at Telstra and Western Australian Newspapers before joining Woodside as the Corporate Citizenship Adviser. During this time she had a strong association with the funding by Woodside of social projects and infrastructure. She is currently the Community Relations Manager for Olympia Resources.

Lisa Holland-McNair, a public relations consultant and writer, has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Western Australia and a Postgraduate Diploma in Business from Curtin University. Lisa's published work includes: Breaking New Ground: Stories of Mining and the Aboriginal People of the Pilbara; Argyle Diamonds: Celebrating 21 Years of Passion, People and Pinks (non-fiction), and a short story in Short and Twisted - stories and poems with a twist 2007.

Lisa's passion is to capture the many as-yet untold stories of unique Australians who live quiet yet extraordinary lives.
